SongForge: The Flame (Session 4: Mar. 18th-Apr. 22nd)

Songforge: The Flame is the advanced six-week creative Songforge workshop focusing on musical structure and performance. This session steps into the world of the Hero’s Journey—where ordinary lives are disrupted, unexpected challenges demand action, and every adventure has the potential to become a musical.

In this session, performers will forge a complete Hero’s Journey entirely in the moment, discovering characters, relationships, songs, obstacles, and transformations within a shared dramatic structure. The familiar beats of the journey become a playground for musical storytelling: calls to adventure become opening numbers, mentors get their own songs, trials become ensemble pieces, and moments of transformation demand a reprise. The ensemble learns how structure can create freedom, using the Hero’s Journey as a framework for building a spontaneous musical from departure to return.
