SongForge: Frequency (Session 1: Sept 3rd-Oct 8th)

Songforge: Frequency is the advanced six-week creative Songforge workshop focusing on harmony, vocal arrangement, and ensemble singing. Frequency explores what happens when individual voices begin to listen, blend, layer, and respond to one another, transforming a collection of singers into a musical ensemble.

In this session, performers will explore the possibilities of the collective voice, building harmony and vocal arrangements entirely in the moment. Melodies become invitations, harmonies become discoveries, and individual vocal choices become part of a larger musical landscape. Through call-and-response, layered vocals, counterpoint, sustained harmonies, and ensemble composition, performers learn to hear beyond their own voices and contribute to the sound of the whole. The ensemble learns that musical improv isn't always about being the voice in front—it can be about finding the note that makes everyone else sound better.
